How did the volunteer hear about volunteering with USO Okinawa and what made him/her want to get involved with the USO? Sam heard about the USO volunteer opportunities when he first arrived on island. The USO representative visited the Joint Reception Center, where he was assigned at the time, to give a briefing regarding the services/opportunities that the USO provides to service members. After hearing the information he knew that he wanted to be a part of giving back to others.
What’s a fun fact about the volunteer? A few fun facts about Sam is that he is an Atlanta Falcons football fan that loves listening to music and weight lifting.
What’s the best thing about volunteering? “The best thing about volunteering is most definitely the opportunity to interact with everyone. The USO is a place where you can get away from the high ops tempo of the military environment. The center is relaxing and the big screen TVs are awesome during football season.” – Sam Jacksonwest
